Project: DIY Flip Flops Tutorial!
Summer may already be halfway over (Ugh! Where did the time go?!) but that doesn’t mean you have to put away your flip flops just yet. Actually, why don’t you do the opposite and make a few new pairs yourself! These flippies are so incredibly easy to make (and will cost you under $5!!) that you’ll want a pair to match each of your outfits! Continue reading DIY Flip Flops Tutorial!
Project: DIY Circle Skirt Tutorial
Today, I’m going to teach you the tutorial I’ve been really excited about since the day I learned how to turn on my sewing machine! Circle skirts are one of my favoritest things ever (what girl doesn’t love to twirl?), so I was both happy and terrified to try my hand at making one. I went through many other projects first, biding my time and avoiding making a skirt that I was going to destroy with my lack of skills. I also assumed (incorrectly, might I add!) that all apparel, particularly the circle skirt, would be too hard for my beginner abilities. With summer just around the corner and a new wardrobe quite literally at my fingertips, I decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. I’m so glad I did! Continue reading DIY Circle Skirt Tutorial
Project: DIY Knotted Headband
I LOVE this headband! I have made several different colors of it already out of the t-shirt yarn that you already know I have a small obsession with (thumbs up for upcycling!) For awhile, I was just tying the ends to a hair tie, like I did in the no-sew version of my braided headband, but I recently bought some fold-over elastic and decided to add it in to the mix. I’m liking the way it came out! Continue reading DIY Knotted Headband Tutorial
When I was young, my Grams (who only knows a few hand stitches and that’s it for her crafty side) taught me the sewing basics. Excited to make something for her using my new skills, I cut up some socks and clothes and hand stitched these two little RIDICULOUS things. One is a bunny, obviously. One is some kind of girl? Probably supposed to be me. I don’t know. I was 12. Continue reading Throwback Thursday: First Sewing Project!
Project: DIY Back of Chair Cushion
One of the things I needed when I got my new work/crafting desk was a tall stool. I got one with a back, as my back is always hurting and I knew I’d need some support. While the chair itself is okay, it’s not all that comfortable, and my back was sad after the first day. I could look online for little lumbar pillows small enough to fit/attach to this stool, or make my own quickie cushion. To my sewing machine, I went! Continue reading DIY Back of Chair Cushion
Project: Reversible Tote Bag Tutorial
Hooray for Friday! Let’s celebrate with one of my favorite things to make! It takes a bit of time (okay, more time for me than it probably should, but then again I only am just learning how to use my sewing machine), but the results are a sturdy, well-made tote bag, that happens to be reversible, that you can use this weekend. How lovely! Continue reading Reversible Tote Bag Tutorial
