2015 Reading Challenge

Happy New Year! So far, it’s been less than happy for me. My dad’s cat ran away the day after Christmas and hasn’t come home yet, and we’re quickly running out of hope. 🙁 🙁 Also, I have the flu! For ten days now! I missed the last two weekends in a row, had to cancel my New Year’s Eve plans and didn’t get to go to the New Year’s Day Mummers Parade that I go to every year here in Philly. So lame! I decided I needed a little escape while being stuck in the house, so I picked up a book.

Right after I started the book, a 2015 Reading Challenge popped up in my Facebook feed so I figured it was probably fate! What is fun about this challenge is that rather than specific titles that you must read by the end of the year, there are different genres and categories instead. There are ones like “read a book based on or turned in to a TV show” or “read a book set in high school” – both of these categories are the ones I’m tackling now! I’ve already finished the first book for the challenge and am reading a second now. I’m hoping to read all 50 (actually, 52) books by the end of the year. Even if I don’t get to all of them, at least I’ll have read more- so it’s a win-win!

Husband set up a shared Google doc for the both of us so that we can check things off as we read! (He’s doing the challenge too!) When we’ve checked off a good book from our lists, we’ll write a short review about it here, in case you are doing the challenge as well and want a suggestion!

For now, check out the awesome list from Popsugar below!

Are you going to participate in this 2015 Reading Challenge too? What other things are you going to try do this new year?

  1. Wow! Awesome challenge!
I could read in the Skytrain on my way to work. I have not read any books since I got my baby, just cannot find time 🙁

  2. I hope the fairies hope your dad’s cat find its way home soon. Ogre and I used to take turns being sick on New Year’s Eve, so sorry to hear you were! At least you got some reading done. 😀

  3. Wow, this is a lot of reading!! I really want to participate, but I’m not sure I have all these time! I’m already getting a lot better at reading. Last year, I read 3 full books. Not great I know, but I started in the last 3 months of 2014, so it’s not too bad. Aiming for 12 this year!
